The CETL promotes excellence in teaching and learning at Life University by providing faculty and staff with resources, support and professional enrichment opportunities to enhance instructional practices, integrate educational technologies and pursue scholarly activities.

Specific Services

Teaching and Learning Workshops: CETL staff facilitate workshops that address a variety of teaching and learning topics, including assessments, pedagogy, course design, scholarship of teaching and learning, faculty leadership and more. Click this link to register for an upcoming workshop.

Educational Technology Workshops: CETL staff offer educational technology workshops designed to support faculty in their use of a variety of educational technologies, including Blackboard, TurningPoint, Doceri and more.

Faculty Spotlights: The CETL organizes and promotes Faculty Spotlights, sessions led by Life University faculty members. In these sessions, faculty share their use of effective instructional strategies, teaching and learning scholarship, or instructional technologies in their work at Life University.

Consultations: Individual consultations (1-on-1 meetings with a CETL staff member) focus on a variety of teaching and learning topics, including developing course assignments, integrating a new tech tool into your classroom, analyzing course evaluation results and more. This service is open to all full-time and part-time faculty members.

Teaching Observations: CETL staff are available to conduct teaching observations for face-to-face and online courses. Teaching observations are useful to a faculty member’s professional growth and development as they document teaching activities, encourage reflection, foster constructive dialogues and strengthen teaching. CETL staff and the faculty member share expertise and collaborate to develop solutions to improve teaching.

CETL eCenter: The CETL maintains an online repository of helpful, on-demand resources, including pedagogical, course design and instructional technology resources. The resource is housed in the institution’s learning management system.

Magna Commons:  The CETL provides faculty and staff at Life University access to Magna Commons, an online, cloud-based professional development resource. The service includes hundreds of on-demand seminars that address a variety of themes, including:
