Dr. Mitch Ferguson is a seasoned mental health professional with 27 years of experience in the field. He received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Auburn University in 1983 and went on to receive his master’s in clinical psychology from the University of South Alabama in 1986. He received his doctorate in education from the University of West Florida in 2000. His first professional counseling job was at the Mobile Mental Health Center, and he then moved to the panhandle of Florida to continue his career. He became a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in 1988. In Florida he worked in multiple settings including community mental health, a psychiatric hospitals for children and adolescents, and eventually moved into private practice. He contracted with the local schools and the Okaloosa County Jail as a provider of mental health services. His earlier career focused on working with adolescents as well as addictions. He moved to Georgia in 2002, and in addition to providing mental health services he is also an educator. His education career began in 1992 as an adjunct instructor for Troy State University, and continues to this day. He currently serves on the adjunct faculty at Life University as well as Argosy University where he works with students pursuing their master’s in community counseling.
