Wellness Lifestyle
Life University takes pride in its distinctive focus on health and wellness, aligned with our approach to optimizing human potential and achieving peak performance. We promote healthy habits, encompassing individual choices and showcasing our commitment to contributing to a healthier planet.
The Wellness Lifestyle uses a holistic, six-aspect model of health to provide a practical application of condition-based, corrective and wellness development. To improve individual and collective health and wellness, the Wellness Lifestyle is expressed through six aspects: Physical, Emotional, Social, Intellectual, Environmental and Spiritual well-being.
- Acquiring information to establish a holistic inventory of individual needs
- Assessing needs and pursuing a plan for condition-based care
- Exploring corrective care to improve adaptation and function
- Developing and engaging in a plan for optimal individual performance with social accountability
- Providing the support and resources to assist people in their efforts to achieve their goals
- Monitoring outcomes and data for continuous improvement

Commitment to Health
Wellness Portfolio
Life University believes that the health and wellness of an individual should be looked at as a lifelong journey, not a simple snapshot of where someone is at one place and time. It involves achieving harmony and consistency in every facet of our lives, extending beyond mere freedom from discomfort or illness. Visit the Wellness Portfolio page to learn more.
Tobacco-Free Campus
Smoking and use of other tobacco products are strictly forbidden on campus (this also includes e-cigarettes and vapes) – both inside the buildings and outside on our grounds. Students enjoy a place free from the toxins of cigarette, cigar and pipe smoke. Students interested in quitting smoking may get information about available programs from the Office of Student Affairs.
Health Eating
Our on-campus dining facilities, Socrates Café and the Commons Dining Hall, provide healthy options, including vegetarian and vegan choices. Most of the protein and produce products come from local farmers who adhere to organic growing regulations and humane treatment of animals. Soups, salads, sandwiches and pizza are available and are made with healthy ingredients.
Getting Active
Because we understand the profound impact of regular activity on physical, emotional and social well-being, Life U offers numerous athletic programs, which include intramural, club and intercollegiate offerings. All these options provide an ongoing schedule of physical activity for all students regardless of ability or prior experience. Life U also boasts walking/running trails throughout its 110-acre campus.
Life University’s Fitness Center
Students don’t need to join a local gym to fight the “freshman fifteen.” The Life University Fitness Center on campus is free to all students, faculty and staff. The Life U community can workout with strength training and aerobic equipment and participate in a variety of fitness classes. Personal trainers are also available to assist students in establishing personal plans and goals.
Chiropractic Care
Students can also receive free chiropractic care in the student clinic. Keeping one’s nervous system free from interference is vital to achieving optimum performance.
Other Services
Students can also take advantage of nutritional counseling, life coaching and health and fitness evaluations from certified health coaches. Athletic assessment, injury care and rehabilitation are also available in the Life Sport Science Institute (LSSI).
President’s Climate Initiative
Life University is also interested in protecting and promoting the health of the planet. We were among the first 100 universities in the country to join the American College and University President’s Climate Commitment to address global warming. Through this commitment, we focus on efficient energy consumption, recycling, composting, using biodegradable products and adhering to Gold-Level or higher Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards for new construction.
