Mission

The Office of Campus Culture and Engagement (OCCE) is dedicated to enriching the student, faculty and staff experience by fostering a vibrant, inclusive and engaged campus community. Through dynamic programs, institutional partnerships and student-centered initiatives, OCCE promotes active participation, leadership development and cultural engagement that supports the holistic growth of all students.

We envision a campus where every student is actively involved, empowered to lead and feels a profound sense of belonging. By embedding engagement opportunities into the university’s curriculum, policies and student life, we cultivate a collaborative and inclusive university culture that supports academic success and personal growth.

What We Do

1. Campus-Wide Engagement Initiatives

The OCCE develops and facilitates campus-wide events that enhance student
involvement and cultural engagement, including:

  • Annual Awards and Recognition Programs – Celebrating student and faculty contributions to campus life.
  • Critical Conversations Series – Facilitating open dialogues on relevant social and cultural topics.
  • Campus Leadership Workshops – Training students, faculty and staff in leadership, team-building and inclusive engagement strategies.

2. Collaboration with University Leadership & Faculty

As part of the President’s leadership team, the Chief Engagement Officer works closely
with senior administrators, deans and department leaders to:

  • Advise the University Committee on campus-wide concerns and engagement strategies.
  • Develop initiatives integrating engagement into the university’s curriculum, policies and infrastructure.

3. Supporting Student Organizations

OCCE partners with and supports student organizations to enhance their impact on campus life.
This includes:

  • Providing mentorship to faculty and staff advisors of student groups.
  • Assisting in event planning and program development for student-led initiatives.
  • Fostering inclusion and leadership by working closely with organizations representing historically marginalized students.

4. Strengthening Community Partnerships

  • Life University is committed to community engagement and service-learning initiatives.

5. Leadership Development and Training

The OCCE enhances professional and personal growth through training programs, including:

  • Student Leadership Workshops – Helping students develop communication, collaboration and leadership skills.
  • Faculty & Staff Engagement Programs – Supporting faculty and staff in implementing
    inclusive pedagogy, effective mentorship strategies and student engagement practices that foster meaningful
    learning experiences inside and outside the classroom.
  • Cultural Competence Training – Equipping campus leaders with the tools to foster an inclusive and engaged environment.

Meet the Chief Engagement Officer


Harrison Davis, Ph.D.

Campus Culture and Engagement

Dr. Harrison Davis serves as Life University’s Chief Engagement Officer, leading the Office of Campus Culture and Engagement (OCCE). In this role, he provides leadership for institutional initiatives designed to enhance campus culture, student engagement, and faculty and staff involvement. Reporting directly to the President, Dr. Davis works collaboratively with senior administrators, faculty, staff and students to foster an inclusive and engaged university community.

With over 26 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Davis has a proven record of leadership in building campus-wide engagement programs. Throughout his career, he has developed student leadership initiatives, coordinated university-wide cultural engagement programs, facilitated professional development workshops and advised campus committees on institutional priorities. His work has been instrumental in strengthening student involvement, supporting faculty and staff engagement, and fostering a sense of belonging within the university community.

Before joining Life University, Dr. Davis served as the Coordinator for Diversity & Inclusion for the College of Health Sciences & Professions and as an Associate Professor of Counseling at the University of North Georgia. His dedication to higher education and student development has earned him multiple awards for service and leadership.

Dr. Davis holds a doctorate from the University of Arkansas, a master’s degree from Columbus State University and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Georgia State University.
